During a routine access control maintenance visit, an FDE engineer will carry out these tasks:
- Check physical fixings of all equipment including loosening or corrosion of supports and fixings
- Confirm that there remains adequate ventilation in the area of the CPU (if applicable)
- Check all seals and connections on all external equipment
- Check the satisfactory operation of all hardware
- Inspect all electronics, including wiring, mains, standby power supplies and charging rates
- Check control unit for correct operation
- Test operation of all readers
- Check all audible warning and alarm devices for correct operation (if applicable)
- Check operation of all access control fixings is satisfactory
- Check function of all interfaces with alarms is satisfactory including correct triggering of alarms (if applicable)
- Write and share a detailed report that confirms the system’s health and highlights any issues
